Check out seasonoftowers blog here on DW. She does amazing work and has been at it for some time.

She's very focused on astrophotography and researches it well, applying what she learns, and gets great results. I'm just a dabbler, it's a side-field for me, though I'm going to try to improve. And I'm taking tips from her!

She has two comet photos up right now, one posted today/yesterday. Her landscape shots are just amazing! You really should check out her work.

I'm quite sincere when I say that you're an amazing photographer and I'm happy to send people your way for the comet shots.  It's happening right now, and your pix are much better than mine.  I hope to produce some better ones that are local to my area, we'll see what happens.

Can't wait to see them! And yep, you will definitely get better noise performance with the 6D, there's like, a stop's worth of low-light performance you get just from the larger sensor, plus you can do exposure times 1.6x longer, plus the 6D is a known low-light beast and probably the one of the best astro DSLRs ever made.

Cool!  I was unaware of that!  I know it's a great camera, I've been very happy with it.  I was using my SL1 for my prev comet pix for no particular reason, didn't know what lens I was going to need and opted for the longer focal length side.  I probably should've switched, but once we started getting results the thought never occurred. Very nice to know that it's great for astro!  Now that you've turned me on to processing flats, I'll have to play with it some more come winter.
