RIP: Pete Green, co-founder of Fleetwood Mac

Passed in his sleep at age 73. His was a sad tale, diagnosed with schizophrenia around 1969. He joined The Bluesbreakers when some low-life named Clapton dropped out, left them to form Fleetwood Mac two years later with bandmate Mic Fleetwood, later recruiting Bluesbreaker bassist John McVie. Green wrote Black Magic Woman, later a major hit for Carlos Santana.

He remained active in music throughout much of his life and was considered one of the greats of guitarists.

Sad yeah. Still the world is a better place for having had him, finding success in spite of mental health issues is an admirable thing to have done.

He started an amazing band that has become one of the all-time greats.  Had he not done that, it wouldn't have happened.  That is definitely something that earns him mega-kudos.
