Yep. I'll be curious to see if Biden/Harris get Nobel Peace Prizes like Obama did for Not Being The Previous Guy. That might be enough to cause Trump's head to literally explode.
At least somewhere on the Tweet-machine, I heard the Movement for Black Lives was also in the running for such candidacy, which, if that's the case, I feel like they should be much more deserving of being the people of the year. I know that they wouldn't get chosen, because TIME would probably not make a statement of saying that Black lives are more important than whomever was selected as the next president and vice president, but it would have been nice, especially for this year, to have had a deliberate decision made for none of the people of the year to be white.
Definitely a tough decision. I think we've talked about how Obama was effectively given the Nobel Peace Prize for not being Bush, it makes you wonder how much Biden/Harris were given the Time Persons of the Year for not being Trump. There was definitely a collective sigh of relief among world leaders for their victory. John Lewis would have made an interesting choice, but I don't know if they award it posthumously.
I don't recall if they award it to groups/non-people. Since they now have multiple 'Things' of the Year, I'm not entirely clear on the awards that Time gives now. I haven't had breakfast yet and didn't get enough sleep, so I probably shouldn't be commenting too deeply right now.
I mean, one year, the person of the year was "You." The collective You, to be sure, but it was one of those things where supposedly each individual was the Person of the Year, so there's probably precedent for everything at this point.
