And it's not going to slow down. I expect it to accelerate at the end of the year and early '21 because of Christmas gatherings, then again in mid-January due to New Year's gatherings, then again in early/mid February for back to school. But that last one might not happen or be as bad since vaccines are beginning to be deployed.

Yeah.  Pretty damn ugly.  And Trump continues to do nothing.  All he had to do was encourage people to wear masks and set an example, something that requires near zero effort.

I did not see that.  Pity he wasn't a political chum of His Holiness, he would have gotten the cocktail that he got.  Then again, Herman Cain apparently didn't get that cocktail.  He made the mistake of being just a dedicated civil servant.

There was a Broadway star, singer/dancer/actor, lost both legs and ultimately died.  COVID can have terrible vascular consequences, as you well know.

Maine's CDC director in his briefing yesterday noted that the US COVID death toll now exceeds the number of US soldiers killed in WWII.

I think the daily toll is going to exceed those killed on D Day.  And His Holiness is just slip slidin' away.

If this has been a thing that primarily affected rich white Christian men, we'd have it controlled much more easily. But someone saw opportunities to hurt people they didn't like and decided to let it go, until, of course, it was hurting everybody because viruses don't actually care. Even now, though, the people who could stop it are sitting on their hands or trying to make sure the mob can't get them with the guillotines. It's still not hurting the people they care about, so they see no reason to rush or pass something that isn't going to put them and their friends in a position of more power and money when everything is done.

And now the head of White House security has lost the big toe of his left foot and most of his right leg.  Still, just a civil servant.  Probably a member of the deep state.
