Have you checked your DW & LJ friends list recently?

I realized I hadn't heard from a couple of friends in some time, so I cruised my friends list. DW has this cool thing that shows you when they last posted - and they hadn't posted since JANUARY!

I sent them nudges, saying nothing more than I hope they're okay and hope to hear from them soon. And I heard back from one overnight, they'd installed a Microsoft update that clobbered their bookmarks and they weren't able to recover their DW credentials and had to start a new blog! The other two, nothing, but I just did this last night and not everyone is on every day like me and others.

I just hope they haven't become Covid casualties.

Computer viruses and biological viruses. Sigh I'm reading Neal Stephenson's "Snow Crash," so am attuned to the theoretical inter-relation.

I re-read that a couple of years ago, didn't realize how little of it I had remembered from my earlier read!  Made me wonder if I'd read an excerpt.  I loved the concept of Mafia Pizza.

Yeah, LJ has that too, though I hadn’t looked in a while. What it showed were postings that I wasn’t included in (filtered).

Yeah, you'd have to go to the individual blogs and see the 'Last Updated' date to see the accurate date.

I have gotten two doses of the Pfizer vaccine, and I'm planning on getting a booster as soon as I can. I might get a flu shot at the same time. (I probably need to find out whether i need the pneumonia vaccine and/or the shingles vaccine.

Probably the easiest way to find out would be to check your state health department's web site and see if they have a way to pull up your vaccination record.  Mine shows that it thinks I should have, IIRC, a chicken pox update!  I had my flu shot and Covid booster about 3 weeks ago, flu on Tuesday and Covid on Friday, per immunologist's recommendation.  Felt fine after the flu shot, ran 100f on Saturday, was fine on Sunday, a bit tired.  Ready for work on Monday.

I'm glad you heard back from at least one. These are worrying times. It's better if the answer is "Oh, I had a baby / nervous breakdown / cross-country move, and dropped off the net for a while."
