I liked those. BTW, I knew Bill Amend almost forty years ago; we were both physics majors at Amherst, and he had cartoons in the student paper, titled “The First AMENDment.” He was a year or two ahead of me.
I was unaware of that! I knew about the early work of a couple of cartoonists in student papers, but not that one! I have frequent brushes with physics majors as I know many with PhDs: my wife is an astronomer/astrophysicist and runs a 3.5 meter telescope, the three women on her crew all have their doctorates, one of the two guys on her crew is a grad student working on his.
My brushes with cartoonist fame would be meeting the guys who did the library comic Unshelved, and I now am a librarian, and the political cartoonist Steve Benson.
