Ukrainian intelligence intercepts Russian soldier telling his wife Russia bombed their own people

Two telling parts in the article. "“That was ours fucking stuff up,” the purported soldier quickly responds. “It’s necessary. They do that to provoke the [Ukrainians]. And that’s why they hit it,” he said. “We talked to the bosses and they said that’s how it is. The same shit was happening in the Chechen War, they blew up apartments in Moscow, as if it were terrorists. It was really the FSB,” he said, referring to the series of bombings in September 1999 that helped bring Vladimir Putin to power." and The unnamed soldier in the intercepted call goes on to say there was “no way” the Ukrainians could have reached the town of Klimovo, in the Bryansk region, from where they were, and tells his wife he plans to “refuse” to go further with the war in Ukraine."

Very short article.

It was long suspected that Putin engineered stunts like this. It will of course be denied as manufactured by the Ukrainians. Remember the time Chechen separatists took over a theater and Putin ordered a sedative pumped in that killed a bunch of civilians? Just the kind of guy he is.

I remember reading as fact reports that Putin/KGP/government had arranged the bombings of Moscow apartments, and blamed it on Chechen terrorists to provide an excuse for what he wanted to do.

That's why I've been entirely willing to believe that whatever he points to as a casus belli now is probably engineered by him.

I can't remember the evidence that was offered up thatnit was probably FSB that planted the explosives, I believe it was easy access to controlled parts of the building and knowing where to place the explosives for maximum effect.  But yeah, just further evidence that he's a major KGB slimeball.

Well, Ukraine isn't going to identify them, and Russia doesn't have near the internal surveillance capacity of China.  So they might be safe.

If you control all the media outlets, then it's much easier to get the story you want to construct out to the people who only have access to your media outlets. It also seems likely that if the narrative isn't going the way that it's supposed to, there are a lot of people out there who will happily nudge it in the "correct" direction.

That's the size of it.  Also why there's no official U.S. gov't news channel in the USA.  At least not yet, hopefully never.
