"PharmaBro" Martin Shkreli released from prison to a half-way house

Having served less than four years of a seven year prison sentence for securities fraud, one of the most punchable faces in America was transferred from Federal prison in Pennsylvania to a half-way house in New York state today, continuing in custody. Six months in jail, completing early release programs, and good behavior counted in his favor.

His attorney advised him to not make any comments at this time, and wisely he listened to him.

Shkreli was convicted of securities fraud unrelated to his pharmaceutical stunts, it was a Ponzi scheme that defrauded investors. He's under a disgorgement order to repay $64.6 million to investors.

Currently his securities license is either suspended or revoked, though he can apply to have it reinstated pursuant to regulations. He has a lifetime ban to hold any role in the pharmaceutical industry or to hold any position at the board or senior management level in any corporation.

Yeah, I saw that yesterday.  Man, that event was quite a mess.

That is, indeed, a very punchable face. Although what's probably the weird thing about him is that he got caught and sentenced for anything that he did. Since so many companies behind him have continued his legacy and they don't get punished for it.

There's a saying that you can get away with most anything until you steal from the rich.  Maybe that's what he did, dunno.

Securities fraud is the kind of thing where you end up stealing from the rich, or things the rich believe they alone should own, so maybe that is what happened.
