The State of New York is suing Donald Trump et al for $250,000,000 for fraud. Eric, Ivanka, Junior, and a host of others are included in the filing - including the Trump Organization. And the suit will basically preclude them from running a business in the State of New York if it succeeds. Ouch! Might put a bit of a crimp in their operations.

Migrants are suing Ron De Santis for their being transported to Martha's Vineyard under false pretenses. False claims, documents were misleading and not properly translated, they weren't told where they were being transported to, etc. And the funds that Ronnieboy was using were for Covid relief and were not to be used for other purposes. Uh oh! I wonder how long until a certain Governor in Texas may be having a process server knocking on his door.

It's always nice to see the law working toward justice and holding people who have lots of evidence that they are doing illegal things brought to account. Especially the ones who believe that their wealth or position protects them from being prosecuted under the law.

He has skated on illegal shenanigans for his entire life and infected his get, it's nice to see the possibility of a reckoning.

It is. The civil penalty would hopefully be enough to torpedo him and the children, but there's always the possibility that he'll be engraved as a demagogue politically again.

And I also would like to see his disciples in the governor mansions be held accountable for their actions as well.

The thing that I fear the most is that he'll somehow use PAC or dark money to pay any sort of fines and that any financial penalties won't hurt him at all.

That also seems likely. Or that his horde of followers would raise the money for the civil penalty and pay it because Dear Leader is being harassed by the Deep State. As much as I would like to see such a fine structured to prevent this, I don't know if it is possible.

It is the big question.  The Republican National Convention is mad at him because his PACs are sucking up small dollar donations and he's not spending them on campaign ads for candidates across the country, so they're hurting.  He has enough cash in those PACs to pay the quarter billion that the NY AG is looking for as a penalty, though I don't think that they can legally be used for such purposes.  Very messy and convoluted situation.

I doubt that's a proper expenditure for a PAC, but we also point out to ourselves that this particular person seems not to have any respect for the law or an indication that he intends to follow it if following the law stops him from avoiding accountability for all the other times he chose not to follow the law.
