RIP: TINA TURNER!

83, peacefully after a long illness and apparently an extensive battle with intestinal cancer at her home near Zurich, Switzerland.

This Rolling Stone is one heck of a long and loving read. She was an amazing music icon whose last album was released in 1999! She has performed since then, perhaps most noticeably at the 2008 Grammys with Beyoncé! And no one will forget her tumultuous marriage with Ike Turner.

For me, aside from the radio, I think my first real exposure to her was when the movie Tommy was released. They showed it at the biggest theatre in Phoenix, the Cine Capri, a Cinemascope screen, and they brought in rock concert speakers for the showings! She was unforgettable as the Acid Queen.

What an amazing woman. She will truly be missed.

And as a bonus, he's done pretty much zero to contribute to society at large, his entire life has been personal enrichment.  He's going to definitely need a waterproof casket because so many people want to piss on his grave.

I think I watched that Rock Opera movie Tommy at least 50 times.

Amazing movie, Tommy.  I was so shocked when I listened to the actual Who album.  I wonder if I would have perceived the movie differently if I knew the original album before I saw the movie.

I don't know her discography as well as I probably should, but I'm pretty sure I've listened to her songs a lot. A shame that we still have bodies that degrade over time.

With the exception of my immune system, which really started troubling me since infancy, mine has held up reasonably well for six decades, considering I really haven't done much to give it the best odds of enduring.  But I am looking at ticking up my count of minor operations by two later this year, which I'm not looking forward to, but are definitely indicators of persistent decrepitude.
