thewayneThere is a program out there called Explorer Patcher. It is a utility that patches the kernel to make the task bar behave more like Windows 10!
I LOVE IT!
I hated the fact that I couldn't move the task bar to the left side of my screen, where I prefer it - this way it matches my machine at work, and doesn't take up as valuable real estate on my screen. The only issue that I've had is that Microsoft HATES IT, and I had to rename the file after downloading it in order to make it run!
It is rumored that a future build of Win 11 will let you do this - why the twits removed this ability, I'll never understand. "We know what's best for you!" Yeah, like when you forced everything into those damn ribbons!

The task bar on the bottom of the screen was a real pain for me as we have a lot more horizontal real estate than vertical. And it just makes no sense that they would REMOVE functionality, but all OS makers frequently have the attitude of 'we know what's best for you'. I've never had a problem with customizing or moving the task bars on my Macs, at least that's been easy for the 15 years that I've been using Macs. They have their faults, all OS makers do.
