Wagner chief and Putin's caterer Yevgeny Prigozhin presumed dead after falling out of window

Said window was in a private jet aircraft. At 30,000' or so. That was experiencing a rapid unscheduled disassembly after being struck by one or two anti-air missiles. I'm sure it was a misfire caused by American hackers that penetrated the Russian air defense network.

The jet was flying to St. Petersburg from Moscow and was about half an hour into its flight when the missiles were launched. Seven people were onboard along with three crew, all are presumed dead. A second private jet that was traveling with them landed safely.

Prigozhin was literally a dead man walking after his attempted putsch a couple of months ago, it was a question of how and when. Apparently the when is now and the how was anti-air missiles. This one-ups Little Kim who executed one of his uncles with an anti-air cannon and is high up on my list for dramatic execution methods of the 21st century.

There's an old saying: if you're going to strike a king, make sure you kill him. Apparently that hasn't been translated into Russian.

It will be interesting to see what becomes of Wagner operations in Africa and around the world.

You would think that Prighozin would have taken a page from Putin's book: travel by train, they're not as easy to shoot down by anti-air missiles. They're a bit slower, but you're more likely to get to your destination.

No sadness here, he was a pretty evil snake IMO.

Why the heck *would* he be taking what *sounds* like a *commercial* airplane, at this point in his life? (It vaguely leads me to conspiracy theories about his not being on the plane at all, but that way lies madness so I shan't.)

Apparently it was a private business-class jet.  Wagner had a small air force, mainly helicopters and transports and ground attack craft, wouldn't surprise me if it had some jets for executive transport.  He might have hired a pair of jets, the point was not clear.  But with only eight passengers, it was probably a small jet.

The leader of the Wagner mercenaries was on a plane that crashed earlier today. Looks like Putin's reach is longer and more lethal than we expected

It wasn't that far from Moscow that a military air defense unit shot the plane down, not that long of a reach.  Considering that Putin has had people assassinated in London, Washington DC, and elsewhere, he really doesn't feel compelled to try for a good boy image.  He is, after all, a former KGB station chief.

It does seem like this was going to be the inevitable result. I suspect the Wagner group will find themselves drafted to become yet another part of black operations, and those that disagree with their new role will also likely summarily be defenestrated.

There was no doubt that something like this would be the end result.  I need to make a follow-on post regarding this.
