AND Covid visits our house once again!

I knew it was coming, just didn't know when. At least it's not me.

Our house guest Dave just tested positive, so it's inevitable that Russet and I will sooner or later as he was standing next to us talking last night.

So far, he has a low fever and cold/flu symptoms. I told him to contact his doc to get paxlovid ordered, we'll see if he gets it done.

I'll be masking at work today. But Russet has a brutal three-day work shift starting with an 18 hour day tomorrow, which is really going to tax her immune system, add to the fact that she's on chemo, she's going to be a prime target. Fortunately all three of us were immunized within the last month, so fresh antibodies swimming around.

Dave seems to have been a house guest for a very long time, is he paying rent as a lodger or just taking the piss?

It's complicated, but at the basic level, taking the piss.  If things were going well, he'd be getting his teaching license and being a proper teacher, but things seem to be getting fouled up by both the school administration and the state level.  And by him, of course.

My doc has already ordered paxlovid for me so I'll be picking that up today, I'll probably be sick by the weekend if previous experience holds true.  I'll be calling my wife's doc to get it ordered for her.  So much fun!

Well crap, but at least you're as ready as possible. I hope that if you & R get COVID, that's it's comparatively easy and mild.

So far, still neg.  I'm not testing until Monday AM, when I have a doc appt and work, unless I have a change in symptoms.  I don't see a point to wasting test kits if nothing changes.  Thus far, R and I are doing fine.  I stocked up on some base foods and some luxuries in case we do get plagued-in.

My sister and her twins both have it. The kids probably got it at a high school dance on Friday and brought it home to her. I did see her on Sunday, so I've got my fingers crossed I've avoided it. I still feel fine, just very tired of this nonsense.

Sunday night at work I had to sit in Covid isolation room all night. UGH!!!!!!!
It's not mandatory any more, but I wore an N95 mask for the whole shift.
I am due for my next shot, but I am going to space it out from my flu shot that I am getting in a couple of days.

Personally, I'd get the Covid shot first!  But you probably have different exposure risks.  I've done both, so I'm covered.  I was planning on getting my RSV shot this week, but that probably ain't gonna happen.

I am a little paranoid because I am in the same position I was in last year when I got the dang virus.
Minus the shingles shot in the mix.

I got RSV soon after my dad passed a year ago, but it didn't kick me too hard.  Haven't had the flu in ages, but I always get vaxxed for it.

I should probably start looking at slots for the Covid shot. They tend to not make many and so they book up quickly.
Although, and sadly, I think fewer people are actually getting them.
Gotta tell you now people, the numbers are going up again. :o

I don't know if it's true there, but Walgreens here does walk-ins for vaccinations, as does Albertsons.

I see the vaccination clinics at work run through next week.
That would put a week between my flu shot and the Covid shot. I might just get it that way.
I will be off next Thursday night and so I can be home after getting it in case of side effects. :)

There was a recent study that getting all vaccinations in the same arm is beneficial.  Apparently it builds up the lymph nodes on that side and they produce better antibodies or something?

I always get my shots in my left arm just because it's not my dominate arm. :)

nods and I tend to get my shots in my right arm for the same reason!  Also, I NEVER get two shots at the same time since I have a crashed immune system, seems like it would just be inviting trouble.

Thus far, Russet and I are still negative.  I'm not testing this weekend unless I have an increase in or change in symptoms, Monday morning will be my next test as I have a doctor appointment for my foot and work.  Russet just tested negative an hour ago, but was having a little strained breathing last night at work at the observatory, so she's taking it easy tonight.

Dave is an old friend trying to get back on his feet and slowly getting there, not fast enough IMO but that's a longer story.  Russet is on pill chemo for a blood disorder.  She doesn't have cancer per se, though it's grouped as cancer for classification and treatment purposes.  It's not the 'rapidly replicating malformed cells' type, though it frequently turns into leukemia in its end stages.  She thinks she has Covid though she didn't test positive this morning, whereas I did test positive an hour ago though I feel fine right now.
