RIP: Laura Lynch, founding member of The Dixie Chicks

She died from injuries sustained in a car accident outside of El Paso, TX. She was 65.

The band was initially formed as a quartet, subsequent changes saw it change to a trio, Lynch leaving, and the ultimate name change to The Chicks. Lynch was co-lead vocalist, then lead vocalist, before leaving the band almost 25 years ago.

I didn't realize there had been other members.

Apparently so.  I didn't realize they'd been around so long, but it's more a matter of time passing by without major markers to reference.  I didn't know they'd been more than a trio, but I don't follow C&W closely, not my thang.

Same here, I mostly stopped listening to C&W music after the 70s. :o
