As I posted yesterday, Tesla halted production on the CT. And I snicker as I post this. TODAY, they announced that they are RECALLING ALL CYBERTRUCKS!

They have sold just under 3,800 CTs in the six months that it's been out, and all have to go in for service. The problem is the Go Fast pedal. Seems the cover is a really, REALLY crappy design. The cover of the pedal slides on, and is quite capable of sliding up, getting jammed under a panel, and now you have a vehicle that can go 0-60MPH in under four seconds with a jammed throttle. Fortunately, engaging the brake will disconnect the throttle, but you have to not freak out first.

This story is about a CT owner who took his vehicle to the beach. No, not the guy who got his stuck on the beach, an illegal act driving it on to that particular beach in the first place and he got an almost $400 ticket for it. This guy went to the beach, and on his way home, took his CT through a car wash to clean it up.

And it died.

Car washes and CTs don't work too well together. He got home, and the truck was pretty much totally unresponsive. He "put in a ticket" with Tesla for a full reboot, and said reboot took FIVE HOURS! That's an awful lot of time for a full reboot, but I have no idea what all that would entail. The vehicle now seems to be functioning normally.

Apparently, the manual says that before going through a car wash, you must put the truck in Car Wash Mode. No one is entirely clear on what that mode does, but it is recommended.

So what do you do if you're out on the road and suddenly caught in a torrential downpour?

I agree with you about the rain storm.
Can't really be a whole lot different then a car wash. :o :o :o
And didn't you post that the trucks were rusting right away too? :o

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really hope people are thinking long and hard before buying a Tesla any more.
Sadly too many, I assume, see it as a status symbol. :o

Put it in torrential downpour/storm chasing mode, or course! :)

I'll never own a Tesla, even if Musk-boy offered to pay me to drive one.

I would consider owning a Tesla, if it paid me enough to a) acquire another car and b) stash it somewhere

It is a bit of snickering as to how few of these trucks have been sold, although it is definitely par for the course that they are unable to handle a car wash, or that they have particular defects that get the accelerator stuck, or that they rust easily, or all of these things that say the person responsible for their design has never designed a car and didn't learn anything from it.

I saw one of these not far from my home a few days ago. It was astoundingly ugly. The pictures do not do it justice.

A truck that can't go through a car wash without a special mode being applied, cannot be washed in direct sunlight (lol) and requires a reboot from far away whenever there is a problem: this isn't a trunk, this is a sensitive computer on wheels for people who have too much money.

Dang, and I thought it was a minor pain having to remember to turn off my Subaru's Eyesight before going through a car wash.

A 2019 Forester. It came with crossrails on the roof, which I didn't really want. I wondered if they'd be an issue with the brush thingies in car washes, so I did some searching. I ran across a couple posts where folks said that Eyesight could sometimes think it was going to hit something when going into a car wash and that it should be disabled. So, just to play it safe, I hold the button to disable it in the wash. It turns back on the next time the engine starts, which is usually in the lil area by the wash where I wipe it down anyway.
