RIP: Shelley Duvall, 75

We lost quite an accomplished actress to complications of diabetes. She was well-known for a wide variety of films including: The Shining, Toys, Time Bandits, Popeye, Fairy Tale Theater, and much, much more.

I probably would have seen her in Time Bandits and Roxanne, most likely. Probably says something about my choices in film and television that I didn't see her in the bigger roles.

My fondest memories of her come from a series of kidvids she did in the 90s when our daughter was little. Called "Shelley Duvall's Bedtime Stories," she just sat up in PJs in an oversized bed, doing intros and outros to animated shorts, usually two per half hour "episode." They had great narrations and high quality animation. Probably my favorite of all of them was this one, narrated by James Earl Jones:

I can't find the video from her episode; the book is PD now, but that narration isn't:( Did find this trailer for the series, though.
