This is interesting. The shooter only got off eight rounds before a POLICE SNIPER - NOT SECRET SERVICE - got a round off AFTER CHARGING THE SHOOTER! and shot the shooter's rifle! It damaged the rifle and knocked him from his perch. As soon as the shooter regained his perch, the Secret Service sniper shot and killed him.

It's possible that the weird guy is suffering from PTSD from the attempt on his life, which is hardly surprising. Insiders report he's obsessively watching the seven second clip of him coming within an inch or so of getting killed. He's also severely cut back his barn storming and is tying to arrange for indoor venues instead of outdoor, where he was nearly killed.
The problem with indoor venues, of course, is he's stiffed so many of them without pay, that the good ones won't have him without full payment up front plus full arrears. He owes the City of El Paso, Texas over half a million dollars, and he owes venues across the country. This greatly limits the places he can appear indoors.
If he were smart, he'd be seeing someone about his mental health RIGHT NOW, as it's best addressed ASAP. But as we know, he's not smart, he's clever at manipulating people, and those aren't the same thing. He can't remotely be honest about something like how he's feeling and what he's experiencing with a therapist, so it's likely to get worse.

The City of Palm Beach might close Mar-a-Laugho.
The Secret Service has closed the road leading to the weird guy's residence/country club since the assassination attempt, yet events continue, and say the road will remain closed at least through Election Day. The City is of the opinion that 'if the road is closed, the resort is closed' and may force it completely closed.
If that happens, no more events. Zero cash flow. Zero golfers. Zero sycophants coming in to suck up to the weird guy.
That would hurt more than his ear getting a boo-boo. I would love to hear the screams and see the Jackson Pollack Hamburger/Ketchup installation if that happens when he gets news of it.

My opinion. We don't have definitive reports as to what happened with the shooting. The hospital won't release reports due to HIPAA, as well they shouldn't. The campaign won't release reports as to what the doctors did to treat him. The Secret Service report said that he was hit by 'a bullet or fragment of a bullet'. And anything that Ronnie Jackson says is second-hand: he wasn't there and didn't treat the weird guy.
I think a fragment of a bullet grazed his ear. Had it been a real bullet on a hypersonic ballistic path, he wouldn't have had a minor little boo-boo that left his ear looking perfect a week or so later. The shock wave might have left him deaf in that ear.
He got lucky. And he's still an idiot.

Date: 2024-08-18 03:00 am (UTC)I contine to find it super weird that we _don't_ have a more detailed read-out, HIPAA be damned. We absolutely would have, had it been literally any other person. The fact that we don't suggests someone is trying to hide something. No idea what. Might not even be true. But it's just so weird.

Date: 2024-08-18 06:10 am (UTC)Agreed. We definitely don't need weird people becoming martyrs. I find it utterly ridiculous that there weren't one or two uniforms on top of every building in the immediate vicinity to rule out the possibility of a sniper, but we know security had some serious problems that day for a variety of reasons. And you're right, most anyone else the records would have leaked. Most likely he's threatened to try to sue the hospital and chain and doctors and nurses out of existence it they leak, just like his university if his education records leak.

Date: 2024-08-18 06:13 am (UTC)There's definitely some possibility that the kid wanted to shoot up the crowd and wasn't interested in killing the weird guy, but I don't know if that can ever be proven at this point. Since no manifesto or writing of his has been found by this point, it's doubtful one will ever be found.

Date: 2024-08-18 08:29 am (UTC)I told him Trump was born into a fortune and used it up to be bankrupt multiple times. How is that being a "great businessman."
So yeah, the venues not wanting to deal with him.

Date: 2024-08-18 05:57 pm (UTC)He had two casinos in Atlantic City and made money with them, then bought a third, and was literally eating his own lunch, diluting the value of all three to below solvency levels. Lost all three. His dad sent a chauffeur with a check for something on the order of half a million dollars to just buy chips from the casino to try to keep it afloat, the guy drove the chips back to Florida and there was no intent to use them to gamble, it was just an illegal loan. Gaming authorities learned of this and both Trumps were fined.

Date: 2024-08-20 05:18 am (UTC)I would not be surprised if the Republican candidate were suffering from ill mental health, whether caused by or exacerbated by that incident. Even in indoor venues, the ones that will let him in, he still might be having worries about how badly wrong he was when he declared that the guns were not there for him.
If the club closes, that will probably provoke even more rage and aggravation from him about how he's being interfered with and everyone is out to get him.
He was lucky, and it still seems like he lacks the ability to govern effectively, and he's losing his ability to campaign effectively as well. It would be great if he were trounced so severely that not even his most dedicated could mount a serious accusation of fraud, but there are too many people and too much money invested in making sure he can prosecute something.

Date: 2024-08-20 05:36 am (UTC)The weirdo from Florida needs to be trounced so thoroughly that there can be no doubt as to fraud. There are too many machinations in place for fraud to be committed in his favor, so the victory really needs to be overwhelming. With the sniper, I wonder if he was going for a kill shot, and missed and hit the gun. Either way, it was a good shot with a good result. Though the article that I read wasn't clear if the shot disabled the assailant's rifle.

Date: 2024-08-21 12:36 am (UTC)I agree, and I would love to see it happen!
I'm not surprised he has PTSD-- how could he not? He was very lucky the shooter had such poor aim, and that the police responded so quickly.
