It released either today or just recently, and is typical in length with the recent Penric and Desdemona books. Usual platforms, including Kindle and Apple stores.
VERY good story! I'm about 60% or so through it, Russet finished it already but she had more time to read today than I did. I'm quite enjoying it, looking forward to the ending.
I think this is something like #14 in the series.

Date: 2025-07-24 03:28 pm (UTC)She's an excellent writer. Her sci fi series, the Vorgosigan saga, has a similar length and I think has won Hugo awards. They're really demonstrative of people stories who happen to be in space. I re-read the entire series last year. I highly recommend them, IMO there's not a clunker in the entire series.

Date: 2025-07-24 10:36 pm (UTC)A couple of interesting things happen in this one, which is really kind of stupid to say because there's always interesting things happening in these books. :-) One of these days I'm going to assemble them into one or more collections, maybe sets of five would be good.

Date: 2025-07-24 10:41 pm (UTC)I've just read Penric's Labors, which includes Masquerade in Lodi, The Orphans of Raspay, and The Physicians of Vilnoc. i.e. novellas 7, 8, and 9 of the series. It will probably be quite a while before #14 is available to me in a format I like.
