Happy Blog Bday to me!

I just got an email that my Live Journal blog is 22 years old now! Started it in 20022004 after my friends and I did a mass exodus from Network 54 when they went weird. Then in 2017 on the 13th of January, I started my Dreamwidth side and ported everything over when LJ was not only sold to a Russian company, but the servers were relocated to Russian territory. So I'll get my 10-year anniversary with DW in the middle of the forthcoming January. Yay. ;-)

And I'll continue manually cross-posting to my LJ blog as DW will remain my primary blog. I wish the automatic cross-post would start working again, but I expect that won't happen until Russia loses the war in Ukraine once and for all and withdraws and loosens up on the information flow chokehold that it maintains on its people.

I apparently can't count late at night. :-) I started it in 2004.

I don't recall when I had joined LJ, but it was all ported here and then my LJ was purged soon after (or just before) the transfer to Russian servers.

Hey old timer! I started LJ in 2007. When everyone I knew moved here (for the reasons you note), I did too. Cross-posted for a little while, but have long since dropped it.

Yes. My start date with LJ is April 15 2002, DW May 4, 2009 and I dropped LJ completely very shortly thereafter. That LJ blog still exists mostly because the Russians locked me out for non-payment, on a seed account; before I could delete it. Somehow never knew about Network 54.

Whoa, Network 54, now there is a name I haven't heard in a while. Checking my LJ is only a little older (and so many now dead links the last time I looked at early posts). I cross posted for a while, but pretty much everyone I interacted with moved here or elsewhere so I stopped a while back.

But wow, it doesn't feel like it's been that long.

Yeah, I don't want to think about the number of dead links in my blogs!  Some are literally true, others abandoned or of unknown status.
