They closed the forest
May. 3rd, 2006 01:54 amLincoln National Forest is closed. No hiking, no camping, no hunting, no nothing.
Formerly living in Arizona, forest and brush fires are kind of common place. It's a different story when your house is literally in the forest and surrounded by trees. I guess the closure order is to reduce the risk of a man-made fire wiping out Cloudcroft, we'll see what happens.

Date: 2006-05-03 04:06 pm (UTC)Yeah, it's bad. We're going to be leaving in two weeks for a 5000 mile trip to VA and OH that'll last 2 or 3 weeks, we'll be taking Russet's car to the observatory to theoretically keep it safe in case the town burns. Of course, if the observatory burns and the town doesn't.... :-)

Date: 2006-05-03 04:15 pm (UTC)In some ways, though, the thought of starting clean does appeal. Get rid of all the crap that you've accumulated over your life and see where your life takes you from there. A good way to study Buddhism and no attachment to posessions, neh? :-)
