So George and Congress wants send upwards of 10,000 National Guard troops to our border with Mexico. It's them damn Mexicans, they gotta be stopped! Never mind Arab terrorists coming over the border from Canada, gotta stop the Mexicans!

I find it interesting that there's no mention in the article about Possee Comitatus. It seems to me that they're dancing a fine line around it.

At least the National Guard is skilled in the assignment they've been given. They have experience shooting random, unarmed law-breakers. Kent State? Beuller . . . Bueller . . .

Snark aside, I think there is a sufficiently wide loophole (that has always existed, even without recent Homeland Security add-ons) in Posse Comitatus for any type of border defense activity, chiefly due to the Coast Guard precedent and the text that effectively states "or if the President feels it necessary."

I'm not surprised by this. As George Carlin said, we Americans are really good at waging war on brown people. After we got our asses kicked in Viet Nam, we've managed to do very well if we're fighting brown people. Granada, Panama, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Iraq again, if your skin is brown, better watch out 'cause the Yanks are comin'!
