We didn't quite make 5,000 miles, I think the final was just under 4,700. Beautiful drive, particularly heading east (at least once you get across Oklahoma). No car problems, no accidents, no tickets, no exceptional poodle problems (except she stepped on my sun glasses in Virginia and then rolled over on my daily glasses in Colorado, fortunately both were fixable).
The one disappointing thing was that we didn't do any used bookstore crawls, and both Omaha and Virginia have some great ones to crawl through. That probably isn't a terrible thing as space was kinda limited. Next year's BlingFest has smaller costume requirements (renaissance festival garb takes up a lot of space!), so we can probably pack smaller, which will then have give us more room for books.
We got in this morning around 1am. When we crossed over from Colorado to New Mexico, there was a great big sign that said "Extreme Fire Danger" followed by "Everywhere". No lie.
Well, there's nothing for breakfast in the house, so I need to get moving and go to work so I can get some food into me!
