(For some reason LJ's mail submission system didn't get my post!)

I finally got bifocals.

I absolutely hated the thought. I’ve been wearing glasses since the 5th grade, and it could probably be argued that I needed them before that point. I’ve been having increasing problems the last couple of years reading really small print, it had gotten to the point that I would take off my glasses to read it. It became particularly acute in my network cabling class, it ain’t easy reading cable colors on 24 & 28 AWG wire when you’re looking for a pale blue or green stripe on a white cable crowded into a RJ-45 connector.

So a couple of weeks ago I went and got my eyes tested, bit the bullet (fortunately it didn’t go off) and got bifocals.

They’re progressive without a line, and I’ve adjusted to them just fine. I’ve had no problems reading, and I read a lot. But this morning is when I saw the first really positive example of how they help.

Take out a dollar bill. Look at the date. It may or may not be easy for you to read it. It was tough for me, and the reason why that’s important is because I log my folding money in Where’s George. This morning I had a few bills to log before I headed off to work, and I realized how easy it was to read the series (the formal name for the issue year).

So that was cool.

I also got a pair of sunglasses that are just great, I haven’t had good sunglasses in a long time. These aren’t progressive, I didn’t really see the need for them to be. I’m looking forward to doing some driving this summer!

VERY high production values! Over 40 minutes, 248meg file in QuickTime format. If you have broadband, it can be downloaded as a BitTorrent and comes down quite fast.

Set in that nebulous time before A New Hope.

I have no idea who amongst you have ever seen Pink Five, it's a short film about a girl who is in the Rebel strike force going after the Death Star. It's hugely funny. Well, it would seem that they're doing a trilogy, and the second film, Pink Five Strikes Back, shows her earning her Jedi wings.

Like I said, hugely funny. I can't wait to see what The Return of Pink Five is like.
