My brother-in-law, stationed in Afghanistan, was supposed to be home for the holidaze. I believe he was supposed to be home by now or arriving soon. Just got word that he's in a hospital in Germany with a ruptured appendix.

Sigh.

Odds are good for recovery normally for such things, but people still die from them. Hopefully he'll be home for Christmas.

I spoke with my sister this evening. Long story short -- he does not at this time have a ruptured appendix. He's being monitored, presumably to see if the appendix will calm down. So as of right now, all is about as well as can be expected.

This apparently started on Thanksgiving, things got worse and he was taken to a hospital in Northern Afghanistan which then moved him to Germany as apparently they weren't clean enough to handle something like this.

Thank you all very much for your well wishes, they are greatly appreciated.
