BIG Mistake!
Nov. 5th, 2006 12:06 amDid some stuff around the house today, worked on a photography project, and by the time I started writing for NaNo, Russet gets up. We go down to Alamogordo and have dinner at a new Chinese restaurant (which I quite liked, given Alamo standards...) and eventually get home. (we talked a lot about our stories and she helped me with some stellar astrophysics that might be important to my story]
So we get home, I lie down in my comfy chair to start writing and flip on the tv for some background noise, and I make the mistake of flipping through the channel guide and see that Blazing Saddles is showing on USA. I just had to see what they cut, and there went two hours of writing.
I was quite surprised. The only word they cut was shit. In the church scene where the townspeople are singing a hymn that ends in "this town has gone to shit" they bring up a loud sound of someone mashing down on a pipe organ keyboard. They cut some scenes for time, but it was surprisingly intact.
One thing that blew me away was I pulled up some info online about it (and corrected a bad link in Wikipedia in the process) was that the theme song singer, Frankie Lane, is still alive! He's living out in Point Loma and is still occasionally performing.
Oh, and for those of us doing NaNoWriMo, there's a community for mutual support and encouragement: http://community.livejournal.com/wrimobuddies/.
