Doonesbury Say What?
May. 12th, 2010 10:13 am"We cannot afford to have another sexually abnormal individual in a position of important civic responsibility...Social conservatives must rise up as one and say no lesbian is qualified to sit on the Supreme Court."
-- Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association, on Elena Kagan nomination
And exactly what evidence is there that she's gay? Let's review. She's single. She has a gay haircut. She smokes cigars, drinks beer, plays poker, so obviously she's a butch dyke.
My wife maintains a fairly severe haircut, I know a number of women who do, and they're not gay.
I really ought to put a Google News alert on Fischer to see if he later gets caught for any sexual peccadilloes.
Michael Wolff has an article whether or not Kagan is gay that is a reprise of one he wrote regarding Sotomayor, musing whether she was guy. Written tongue in cheek, it was taken surprisingly seriously.

One thing that I find amusing is one of the arguments that people make against gay marriage, that you must have children, and gay people cannot (ignoring artificial insemination, for some reason). By that definition, my wife and I aren't married, and I can think of at least five other married couples that I know without children, including my 80+ y/o aunt. Having children is a choice, among other things, and the biological ability to have children does not make you a suitable parent, nor does the inability mean that you have a sham marriage.
