This just boggles the mind. Our education sucks, unless you have the $$$ to send your kids to exclusive private schools for grades K-18. Fire departments are being consolidated, resulting in poorer service, police departments have been chronically underfunded for ages. These are fundamental public services that more than 99% of the country cannot afford to buy for themselves. But I guess that's not the RNC's problem.

I so fervently hope that they get a real nasty slap upside the head in November and get thoroughly refudiated across the country.

I would so vote for Wyden if I could. He put a hold on the bill which forces it to a full floor debate and vote where it can be filibustered. I'll bet the White House is not happy about this.

Illegal immigrant uses dead criminal's ID to get all-access job

"Jerry Thomas" worked for the Newark Liberty International Airport, supervised 30 security guards whose duties included inspecting trucks on the tarmac, and had access to all areas of the building. Unfortunately this Jerry Thomas was also a convicted criminal who was killed in NYC in 1992.

He probably got away with it because he was using the ID for nine years before 9/11, so he was already trusted. But the question to me is: how was a convicted criminal able to get a job as a security guard, then supervisor, at an airport?

Israeli border control forcing some visitors to sign on to their email account

Some people have been denied entry and shipped back to their country after the border agents have looked at their email.
