Passed in his sleep at age 73. His was a sad tale, diagnosed with schizophrenia around 1969. He joined The Bluesbreakers when some low-life named Clapton dropped out, left them to form Fleetwood Mac two years later with bandmate Mic Fleetwood, later recruiting Bluesbreaker bassist John McVie. Green wrote Black Magic Woman, later a major hit for Carlos Santana.

He remained active in music throughout much of his life and was considered one of the greats of guitarists.
