I ordered two text books a couple of weeks ago. I received confirmation, in fact, I received one of the books (the one for Thursday night, which is good).
Today I receive an email that TheBookPros cancelled the order for my book. No explanation given. I'm getting a refund for my money. So I click on a link to go back to the book that I need to re-order it (and now I get to pay add'l fundage for express shipping to get it on time!) and there are two copies being offered by TheBookPros.
Judging by their recent negative feedback, they are not a terribly reputable seller. They've had 107 neutral and 144 negative feedback IN THE LAST MONTH. I should have looked at their rating statistics before I ordered.

Date: 2006-08-26 07:28 pm (UTC)95% feedback = crap
Date: 2006-09-07 05:38 am (UTC)95% feedback is crap. Very few knowledgeable users are going to risk retaliatory feedback just to ding someone, so it takes either dumb people or a knowledgeable user who's going to wait until the 90 days is almost up to post a negative at the last minute.
I've had one of those no-ship guys where they had the nerve to cancel their dutch auction AFTER I had sent paypal payment to them. I looked them up immediately using the contact a member function and called the guy's apartment in New York... got my refund that night.

Date: 2006-09-07 05:54 am (UTC)That dutch auction runner sounds pretty scummy! That's really funny that you were able to track him down like that. I've only had one prob on eBay, I ordered a copy of Quicken from a guy who lived in Phoenix just a few miles from me. I tried to contact him to see if I could just pick it up, I didn't care about the shipping, I just wanted it quicker. I never received it, finally filed a complaint with PayPal and got my money back.
