I saw a porcupine tonight!

I was out walking the poodle. She'd just pooped, I was preparing to clean it up, and I looked further down the road. There, just around the bumper of a car, was a white shape. I didn't get a long look at it, but it sort of had the face of an Afghan hound with Dauchsund legs (i.e. very low to the ground). Fortunately Celeste didn't spot it, so no issues there. I pulled her back and locked down the leash and slowly walked up, but it had turned around and disappeared.

It would have been great to get a photo of it, but I don't keep my camera with me at night.

That's a definite plus to where y'all live, that you have the chance to see wildlife like that.

I'm glad Celeste didn't see it. That could have been....painful.

Russet's previous poodle, Daniel, had one porcupine encounter. Got a single quill stuck right in the middle of his nose, right between the nostrils. He was exstaticly happy: "Guess what I found!" until the quill had to be removed...

Porcupines are white? I 've never actually seen one - but i didn't know they were white...

A porcupine's quills can be whitish in color, and that's a lot of what you're seeing when you see one.
