NaNoWriMo: I surrender
Nov. 27th, 2006 09:24 pmI wrote about 400 words while in Phoenix, I was hoping to be able to write 2-3000 a day but it just didn’t happen. I didn’t expect to be as busy as I was, then again, I never expect to be as busy as I am. I’m in the mid 22,000’s, and there’s no way I’m going to more than double that by Friday. I’m going to continue writing, and I will finish the piece that I’m doing, I’m just not going to obsess about it. I have to do six color prints, mounted and spotted, plus a Photoshop collage using a minimum of five source images, by next Tuesday. I just don’t have the time to finish by the end of November.
For me, October would be better month for me to try to write 50,000 words in. Late November is always the crunch for me finishing semester projects, October is pretty light as my previous mid-terms have been almost non-existent. I will probably finish my writing in 30 days, they just won’t all be in November.
Russet, on the other hand, has probably finished hers by now. She got a lot of writing done during the drive back to Cloudcroft and even more over the last two days. She had two last scenes to write, and that was it. I know she was over 40k, so I have no doubts that she’ll hit the big Five-Oh.

Date: 2006-11-30 01:29 am (UTC)Now, an internal push is a good reason to write. The story I'm working on is being driven by the fact that by setting it to text, I'm both finalizing it and sparking new ideas, and I really really want to find out how this story turns out. I started by wondering if I had enough for a novel but now I'm beginning to wonder if it's going to be too much.
My protagonist has just discovered the wonders of an unexpected temper. At least, *I* wasn't expecting it.
