All of our lab aides are students. I'm a student, the other part-timer is a student. The two full-time people in the computer lab are not students. Friday comes, the guy who works afternoons comes in and says he's heading out. I go and check the schedule and find that Sarah is supposed to be in for the rest of the evening. She's supposed to be in as the previous aide leaves. She isn't. In fact, she doesn't turn up at all. Saturday: no Sarah. Sunday: no Sarah. Apparently she called the boss and said that she couldn't come in because she had to study for finals.

Oh, and I guess all the other students who work here had nothing better to do?

I wasn't very happy about her no-show Friday night because I wanted to go out and get some dinner. But here's the capper. I heard a story about her today: she got caught cheating in a chemistry test! She had a programmable calculator loaded with things that shouldn't have been there. And the best part? She was about to be expelled, as well she should, when she pulled the race card! She's Turkish, and threatened to sue the school for discrimination against Arabs.

*sigh*

Fortunately the boss is not going to endorse her student aide waiver, so she ain't gonna be working here next semester.


I was at work early today to make up time as I won't be here part of next week. I thought the boss was gone, he wandered back in to get some equipment that he needed. Some comment was made about Sarah, and how it's so nice that she got some time off to study. Apparently she was seen making out with some guy in the parking lot. The person who reported this said that he was tempted to walk up to her and the guy and say "Oh, is this your husband? I didn't know he was back!" Her hubby is serving in Guam right now.

I ain't gonna shed no tears that I won't see her no mo.

I can understand the administrators desire to resolve the issue without the mess, but I still think she should have been expelled for cheating. Oh well, she's the type of person that is building up a kharmic debt that she will have to pay off in the future.

Wow...good to know people at other colleges act just as smart as at mine. I've had the race card pulled because my idiot coworker laughed at a woman because she scared the hell out of him with her screaming. I get to hear this ten-minute rant on the then-boss's answering machine that goes, "Ateji and Jesse laughed at me. It's because I'm BLACK, isn't it?!" *dies*

What's a student aide waiver do for you guys? We have to get forms from people that say "Yes, I have a job lined up, please give me workstudy so I can go work at it."

Possibly about the same thing. I'm not certain as I am a part-time employee, not a work study. Also, since my wife is a FT employee at the observatory, I get six credits free per semester... Gotta pay for books and lab fees, though.

Oh, you evil man. :P I'm a little depressed sometimes that this bf doesn't know more about computers than me. Then again, it means I get to be the security adviser on his laptop and desktop, so I make sure his antivirus and anti-spyware software are up-to-date.
