thewayneI'm taking three classes: Photo II, Drawing I, and Web Design. For Photo II, we're using the same book as Photo I (I just have to dig it out of the library, a feat easier said than done). Drawing doesn't have a book! But it will have some supply requirements, so it's not like it's a free course. I assume the teacher will be giving us lots of handouts, though I really should try and find my Drawing On The Right Side Of The Brain. And the Web class: I got a used Dreamweaver book for $23! Amazingly, the new copy is only something like $28!
Sorta makes up for me having to buy two different editions of the same algebra book last Spring. I took remedial algebra last Fall and it came down to completing my photography final project or taking the algebra final and still need to retake the class regardless of whether or not I passed the class, so I re-took the class and they changed editions of the book during the winter break.
I also filed my petition to change my residency status. When I enrolled at NMSU, I explained to the woman at the counter that I'd moved here because I got married, and I didn't know if that made me a resident or not. She didn't know so I marked Out Of State. I subsequently found out that, at least in NM, if you marry a resident and move into NM to live with them, you pretty much automatically become a resident. I now have a driver's license and my car registered in both of our names, but now they also want a copy of the title for the house even though my name is not on it. So hopefully that'll be resolved soon.

Date: 2007-01-12 06:54 pm (UTC)I've never drawn before, but I now have an ulterior motive. I can't get any artists to work with me on the games that I design. And without artwork, games sell rather poorly. So I figure, worst possible case, I'll develop some basic skills and do the art myself. It won't be great, but it should be sufficient for what I need.
It will also give me a contact: the teacher will know advanced students whose style might work with what I need, and maybe I can do some haggling and get them working with me.
