I love my wife!
Jan. 17th, 2007 11:52 pmI have, for pretty much as long as Harry Potter appeared in print, wanted a copy of the British version: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. I've always thought that the Sorcerer's Stone was an incredible wimp-out for American audiences.
This morning I got it!
Russ ordered season 2 of Stargate: Atlantis (edit: From Amazon.UK) and got me a copy of HPatPS!
I'm a happy man.
(I know it's not going to be significantly different than HPatSS, but it's the thought that counts.)

Date: 2007-01-19 01:31 am (UTC)I remember when I heard about "Sorcerer's Stone" that I was annoyed because I *knew* the properties of the Philosopher's Stone and thought that Rowling was trying to slip one past the uneducated public. Then I found out that it was the publishers trying to slip one past the uneducated Americans, and got annoyed in a different direction.

Date: 2007-01-19 12:45 am (UTC)I got a UK edition of a novel by accident recently and was going crazy from the single quotes used where we would use double quotes. (Or should that be quotation marks? Eh.) Let me know if it has that? I thought they stopped doing it years ago.
I've considered getting a "proper" edition myself, but...not much of an HP person. :)
