Wednesday night at a Phoenix game store during a Hero Clix tournament, my RL and LJ friend

magic_rat suffered a stroke, I've known him for over twenty years: we worked together at Flying Buffalo. At this point he is alive but in critical condition. Paramedics took him to Tempe St. Luke’s, the ER there then had him air-evac’d to Barrow’s Neurological/St. Joseph’s. He underwent surgery to relieve the pressure in his skull and has not yet woken.

There are few places in the United States better than Barrow's if you have a stroke.

He's diabetic, the wife of the owner of the game store said the paramedics reported that his blood sugar was in the 240’s. High, but not catastrophically so.

His mother is asking for prayers that God’s will be done as she knows he would not want to live with greatly diminished faculties. Fortunately he was at the game store among friends when it happened and he wasn't driving around or seeing a movie by himself.
