A company has fulfilled advertising's wet dream: a camera that can tell when you're looking at a billboard. Minority report, anyone?

Yeah, hopefully it's not able to track personal patterns, or we really will have to worry. Still, it sucks pretty badly that now, not only will we continue to have advertisements intruding upon our world, they're going to know which ones are most effective at it.

Actually, (allegedly) retinal recognition isn't far away. There is a company that claims to have rapid and accurate retina scanners that operate from a distance.

Brave new world.

So, talking CCTV cameras everywhere, retinal-scanning objects for advertisements and police presence... boy, we're in it deep, aren't we?

Apparently in England it's one camera per 14 people. The US and UK have, in some circumstances, taken possession of suspicious material as evidence of guilt, so thought crime has become a reality (to a degree). 1984 was simply 23 years early.

Yep, get out your waders and keep your nose clean.

Definitely. More and more, the people who shouldn't have any reason to fear are the ones that have the most to fear.

I thought you were talking about me with the subject, but I'm guessing you were just making a South Park reference, LOL.

That's actually some pretty cool technology, although I'd rather see it used for something other than advertising.
