IBM pipe dream of changing the way we drive

Nice concept, but it requires a rebuild of pretty much all of the roads into 'smart' roads and also assumes everyone has compatible technology and uses it. Maybe in 50-100 years we'll have something like this, but I doubt it in my lifetime.

Smart roads, smart cars, and a trust that things aren't going to go horribly wrong at an inconvenient moment. I think most of us will still want our steering wheels.
