Did anyone catch the new Highlander movie on SciFi last night?

Not on purpose, I really just forgot. I did read it was bad though, so I wasn't making any notes about how I simply had to catch it or anything.

It wasn't bad, it was horrible. It might have gone past horrible, out the other side, and back to being bad again. Though I think it would be bad squared at that point.

Unfortunately, I did. It has to be the worst incarnation of the Highlander series to date. Both Duncan and Methos were totally out of character. If that weren't bad enough, it was as though they took an episode written for TV and padded it to make a movie.

There was absolutely no character development for Anna. What happened to Kate? I just couldn't see the relationship she supposedly had with Duncan. It was actually hard to force myself to watch the thing.

What was the whole apocalyptic thing about anyway? How does Duncan fathering a child stop what was going on? It made no sense at all.

OK. Enough ranting.

I don't have a huge problem with Highlander not making a lot of sense, but this went so far on that extreme that my wife walked away and went back to work, and she's a big Highlander fan (and slash writer). The son was telegraphed as soon as they spoke with the Elder, whom I still think is Baron Harkonnen.

The thing that really ticked me off was Hyperspeed Highlander! I just don't get that. And don't get my wife started on celestial mechanics! :P

The celestial mechanics part was extremely hokey. Not to mention that they kept showing the planets as being visible to the naked eye, which they are not. (At least not in the way represented in the movie.) It was a cool graphic, but totally unbelievable.

It just seemed obvious that Adrian Paul was sick of doing Duncan MacLeod. His performance seemed to be just phoned in. The whole futuristic apocalypse thing was too over the top. The technology Methos and the others were using didn't make sense. I don't believe that we'll have that kind of technology readily available anytime soon, and the story can't be set too far into the future. Joe is alive, and he's only mortal. They didn't even show him as being that much older than what he was at the end of the tv series.

I don't think words can describe how utterly bad this movie was.
