It never rains but it pours
Jun. 13th, 2005 10:41 pmRusset’s mother was taken to the emergency room this afternoon.
I didn’t know it, but she’s a diabetic. She controls her diabetes through diet. Her current list of problems is: pneumonia, kidney failure, blood sugar out of control, and rectal bleeding.
Russet is flying up Wednesday, her vet is picking up Celeste and taking her to the kennel in Alamogordo. I’ll be throwing things together tonight and tomorrow in anticipation of flying up later this week.
Russet thinks that her mother may have deliberately sabotaged her health to basically die with her husband, I think that’s a fairly well informed supposition.
So we’ll see what happens. I think that if either of my in-laws die, the other will follow within days.
And here I was going to post nice cheery news about losing two cats and one cousin. I guess that will have to wait.

Date: 2005-06-15 08:27 pm (UTC)I have a friend out of state whose parents are evidently on this same path. Her mother was diagnosed with lung cancer earlier this year, and now her father is too. No obvious way to "sabotage" oneself, really, and second-hand smoke is what it is... but Friend definitely feels her father is, perhaps unconsciously, trying to die with his wife so he won't be left alone. Now they're having joint chemo treatments and Friend is trying very hard not to come completely unglued.
