Two parts of the Patriot Act rules unconstitutional!

About damn time. Basically the part about search warrants without probable cause. Unfortunately, this is a Federal judge, not SCOTUS.

Hey, it has to start somewhere! I'm just glad to see that someone's willing to stand up on that point, especially someone in that kind of position. Having that kind of precedent set would lay the foundation for a more substantial challenge to the Patriot Act. I think that judge made a good point, too, in saying that the US attorney was essentially asking her to invalidate the Fourth Amendment by throwing out his case.

I've been deeply afraid in the last few years of how much this ludicrous campaign of fear and control has been eroding what this country was supposed to stand for and was built upon. It's heartening to see an authority stand up with the same point.
