This was on the Doonesbury page.

"This administration has done more for the environment and addressing energy security and climate change than any other in history."
-- Martin McGuiness, Special Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs

At first I said "Whaaa?" and then I realized that he said "more for" with no mention of improvement. There's no doubt that this administration has done lots, the question is what have they improved in the areas mentioned in the quote?

The question is open to the class.

"for" generally implies that the changes being made are positive and not negative. Were it to be a matter of "regarding", rather than "for", that's a perfectly accurate statement, considering how much the administration has done to try and ensure a stable supply of energy by destabilizing one of the big oil regions and getting others to ally against them, and their fairly steadfast denial of climate change as somehow being the result of human life. (At least, I think that's still the official line)
