RIAA fights to avoid paying attorney's fees for file sharing suit that it dropped

It could easily amount to more than the $220,000 that they were recently awarded. It might also finance a class-action suit against the RIAA for people who have been accused but had the suits against them dropped for lack of evidence or whatever reason.

This is the part where a spray-and-pray offense doesn't live up to the billing. I'd like to see them get hammered with defence costs because they were filing frivolous lawsuits.

Also, the hubris in assuming that the defendant is guilty, even when the courts found insufficient evidence to prosecute, is bigger than some political candidates.
