Doonesbury has a quote every day on his comic, along with a news ticker quoting various politicos. It's almost a "mock the stupid", and though he doesn't focus exclusively on the GOP, he does lean heavily in their direction. Today's comic is also pretty good.

Today's quote: "I think there is a handful of people who hate America. Unfortunately for them, a lot of them are losing their homes in a forest fire today." --Glenn Beck. And here I thought they'd moved past "people who hate America."

And on the ticker, Guilliani talking about Hillary along the lines that the country can't afford her spending plans. When you look at the national debt going back 30 years, assuming she performed fiscally like her husband, I'll take her over any republican any day.

Which is not to say that I like her, frankly I find her kind of frightening. I have yet to find any candidate that I consider worth anything.

RON PAUL RON PAUL RON PAUL RON PAUL RON PAUL

1. The only candidate who has been consistently against the Iraq War and Patriot Act from their inception.
2. The only candidate who cares about the rights guaranteed you under our Constitution.
3. The only candidate for complete Internet freedom.

He is competitive (fundraising equal to McCain and growing exponentially). I can give you hundreds of reasons to support this man if you are interested. www.ronpaul2008.com

I think the GOP finds Ms. Clinton really frightening considering how virulent they are in their hatred of her.

Honestly, they need to add a "NOT THESE IDIOTS" option on the ballots this year. Or "None of the Above", at the very least. I don't remember seeing it last time.

This is an excellent, entertaining, well-produced youtube vid about Ron Paul. In less than 9 minutes, you will see why I am so committed to his candidacy. Won't you give it chance? There is a funny bit with Jon Stewart of The Daily Show about halfway through.

I am not opposed to RP, I need to learn more about him. I am a little concerned after seeing this, though:

I'll watch the video over the weekend, I'm a little pressed for time at the moment.

Thanks for having an open mind. I took a look at the linked article and I think the author's concerns would be allayed if he did a bit more research. An excellent site for that is http:://www.ronpaullibrary.com .

My take on the list:
1. I suppose if one objects entirely to the concept of letters of marque, there's not a lot of room for compromise on this point. However, under a Paul foreign policy, we would be committing less dumbassery overseas and would be less likely to get into a situation that required such an action.
2. - 5. Racism! The accusation flung when nothing else sticks, lol. Paul did not pen the offensive remarks, yet he not only apologized for them, fired the staffer, and most importantly TOOK RESPONSIBILITY himself. The latter shows leadership, not evasiveness. This is all much ado about nothing.
6. That's a matter of opinion (what survey do you believe?). I certainly feel that immigrants to any country have a responsibility to learn the mother tongue so that they can function fully as citizens.
7. Yes! He does indeed want to repeal another Amendment. The 16th to get rid of the IRS.
8. Read why Paul voted as he did in his own words here: http://www.ronpaullibrary.org/document.php?id=635

You know, that might actually be worth watching to see if Cruise is still as much of a fruit bat that I think he probably is. But I'm still without tv, so it won't be happening.

Stephen Colbert!

It's not incomprehensible, y'know. The past bears me out.
Just imagine my incredulous feeling when a certain guy was elected president some years ago, the same guy that Dan Rowan on "News Of The Future" in 1968 predicted "20 years from now, President Ronald Reagan..." and the audience cracked up at the nonsense of it. Pure nonsense. ...Errmmm, at least we thought so then!

Other than the prospect of President Colbert, I've got the same attitude toward voting as one of my idols, George Carlin, does ~
"You may have noticed that there's one thing I don't complain about: Politicians. Everybody complains about politicians. Everybody says, 'They suck'. But where do people think these politicians come from? They don't fall out of the sky. They don't pass through a membrane from another reality. No, they come from American homes, American families, American schools, American churches, American businesses, and they're elected by American voters. This is the best we can do, folks. It's what our system produces: Garbage in, garbage out.

"....I have solved this political dilemma in a very direct way: I don't vote. On Election Day, I stay home. I firmly believe that if you vote, you have no right to complain. Now, some people like to twist that around. They say, 'If you don't vote, you have no right to complain', but where's the logic in that? If you vote, and you elect dishonest, incompetent politicians, and they get into office and screw everything up, you are responsible for what they have done. You voted them in. You caused the problem. You have no right to complain.

"I, on the other hand, who did not vote -- who did not even leave the house on Election Day -- am in no way responsible for that these politicians have done and have every right to complain about the mess that you created."
He also said ~ "The next time they give you all that civic bullshit about voting, keep in mind that Hitler was elected in a full, free democratic election."
