MPAA gets Congress to write a bill to cut university funding if they don't fight downloads

Apparently EVERYONE at a university could lose ALL Federal aid if the university doesn't comply. And I'm sure there is plenty of money provided to help universities add the bodies that will be required to monitor the software that they'll have to install to control file downloading. Oh, there's no additional fundage? That's OK, university's have so much money left over for salaries, we'll just take a little money from the football teams, they won't mind. ;-)

This is a really good example of why the government should NEVER be in the handout/subsidy business. Such perks can easily be turned into leverage for extortion.
