Want to screw up digital surveilance cameras? Build one of these!

This is pretty cool. The concept is quite simple: a headband with a ring of IR LEDs and a battery. When photographed by a surveillance camera, there's basically a big white dot where the subject's face is!

It just occurred to me: I wonder if the same thing might work for traffic/photo radar cameras... A simple license plate frame...

Just gotta make sure they're IR LEDs. It would be easy enough test them with a digital camera.

Hmmm. Keep in mind that I've been without a TV for almost a year. I know they did something with gadgets trying to defeat normal radar, but I don't know of anything regarding photo radar or surveillance cameras.

California's just made it a law to deliberately obscure license plates from photo cameras, just so you know.

What a surprise! I've never run afoul of such, though a friend of mine did get photographed in my car once. The ticket was dismissed because I would not identify her. The funny thing about it was that just a couple of weeks later she got caught in her own car, and I believe by the same camera at the same location!

I would definitely want to make a hat of these if I ever visit London. They have way too damn many cameras there.

Or you could wear it while driving in places that have traffic cameras, lol.
