Hackers assault epilepsy sufferers through a message board

Wow. A message board for people who have epilepsy was hit last weekend with messages that had animated gifs and patterns designed to cause seizures in people with certain forms of epilepsy, several people were affected and had seizures of varying severity.

Some people are saying it was the work of Anonymous, the anonymous group that is striking out against the Church of Scientology, but that doesn't make sense. Fortunately forum admins took the boards down and cleaned them out.

This strikes me kinda close to home as my best friend has had severe epilepsy for a very long time.

I'm sure Anonymous was blamed by someone just because they've been in the news lately. No, it makes no sense at all that it would be them, it's incredibly unlikely, agreed.

Serious dickheads, though. People can die from an epileptic seizure.
