Apparently Disney/Pixar has decided that all future Pixar releases will be in both 3-D and 2-D. A coalition of movie houses is funding $700,000,000 to install/renovate 10,000 screens throughout the US and Canada over the next three years to be ready for it.

I understand the theater chains are concerned. If you've got $10k, you can get a screamin' Blu Ray and LCD home theater setup and never go to another movie, just buy or rent everything you watch. But regardless of what their analysts say, I don't think this is a good idea. I have very little interest in seeing movies in 3-D.

Oh, and apparently they're committed to Toy Story 3 and Cars 2 over the next four years or so. It's kind of sad, one of the telling things about Pixar was that they didn't do sequels -- Toy Story & 2 were made for Disney, they weren't exclusively Pixar movies.

Agreed--3D movies give me a headache.
