The article mentioned that perhaps the redacted data represented a payment to one vendor where they might have been paying others more or less than the hidden amount. Other than that, no, it wasn't really all that much of a secret.

ooh, that's awesome. I'll have to try that technique on some genealogy digitals such as state death certificates that have certain info blanked out (usually cause of death). Sometimes I think the only think that protects us from complete exploitation by our government is that they're dumber than the populace at large.

I would think that you'd have a good chance at getting more info through this method, people will tend to take the easiest route to complete any mundane, repetitive, repetitive task. ;-)
