Russet saw a really cool bumper sticker online that said Bush's Third Term: McCain. I guess that's right. Now he's saying that Bush is fully within his rights as a war president to do what he's doing. Funny, I still don't recall Congress passing a declaration of war.

Maybe McCain should do some shopping in China to make a wish list of technology to implement if he gets elected in November.

As I understand it, they've been claiming that the first Gulf War never actually ended, and so they're justified in using the declaration from that one. That's always struck me as a load of total bullshit, but it's evidently been enough to keep this debacle going.

Yeah, McCain scares me. Not least 'cause he doesn't seem quite as stupid as Bush.

Congress hasn't declared war since 1941. I think we agree that one's over, right? Or maybe not -- the economy has been on a war footing pretty much continuously since then.

I suddenly hear this convoluted explanation of how the Japanese took control of the Koreans and then infiltrated Vietnam, while the Germans were secretly working on taking over the Middle East to fuel the Fourth Reich.....and so it's technically not over.....

*twitch*

It's my opinion that McCain is in this whole thing for personal revenge on the Viet Cong and their ilk. Other than that, his voting record has been all over the map, sometimes close to Bush, sometimes close to Ted Kennedy.

Right now I'm presented with three candidates I would never vote for: McCain, Obama and Barr (who got the Libertarian nomination). I'll have to see what other obscure parties make the VA ballot, possibly throwing in for one of them or doing a write-in.

I don't like McCain. But I will point out that of the three self-contradicting McCain "opinions" described in the article, only one of those came from McCain himself. The other two, including the headliner, were position statements from staffers.

Man. I would think a statement like this counts as instant fail in the presidential contest. Ignoring the law and justifying it because one is supposedly fighting a concept is dodgy reasoning at best.
