Ouch! The PS3 consumes 31kWh of electricity per week while in standby mode, the equivalent of five refrigerators (and x10 the power consumed by the Wii).

Wow. That's a pretty hefty power draw. Hopefully in the next generation or two, they learn how to decrease that output significantly. Although it's nice to know that there's not a whole lot of worry about the Wii's power draw. Still, I wish there were lots of ways that we could do stuff with the machines while they sit idle, and that didn't require lots of power draw while they were at it.
